What My Clients Say
There is a special connection that is built during these months, and I am happy to share with you some of the feedback I’ve received from clients who I’m still in touch with today.
I am so grateful that we hired Lori, although we didn't know much about her when we first hired her she turned out to be the perfect fit for us with my pregnancy/birth. She gave me the reassurance I needed, and the extra tips and insight. She was a great help for my husband; to know when to remind me to drink fluids. How to massage to help with labor pains. Lori suggested to write a birth plan of how I wanted my birth to go as a guide, so I did. She helped us speak up when it was going off track to how I wanted my natural (as possible) birth to go by saying can we prolong that a bit and what are my choices. Truly helpful when an OB says this is what is going to happen and you don't realize you have a choice. She also helped afterwards with breastfeeding. It was great to have this extra support, and I'm thankful over and over that we decided to hire a doula and that it ended up being Lori!

Though this was my 4th pregnancy, it was my first experience with having a Doula to assist and support me. I couldn’t have asked for a more patient, compassionate, knowledgeable, accessible and passionate Doula than Lori. Her passion and dedication for caring for mother and baby at such critical and vulnerable times such as pregnancy, delivery and postpartum was very evident. My other 3 labors were assisted with pain medication and though not bad experiences, I remember feeling scared, alone and quite un-informed. However under Lori’s care, any feelings of fear were addressed and replaced with peace and excitement. She listened to all of my thoughts and concerns and accommodated her services to my wants and needs. Her wealth of knowledge, experience and resources provided me with the confidence I needed to have a wonderful and joyful experience. During labor she was with me every step of the way providing both physical and emotional comfort and support. She worked well with the nurses and doctor to ensure I had the best care possible. She even had my husband be involved more than ever which was rewarding for both of us.Â
What surprised me most about Lori’s services was the amount of care provided postpartum. She checked on my well-being weekly, helped me clean my house, made my family a delicious meal, and gave both me and my children comforting gifts. Because I was being cared for and nurtured, I was able to better care for and nurture my precious baby. What a gift to my family! I am a better mother because of Lori and am so grateful for her and her Doula services!

I had the privilege of having Lori as my Doula for my second baby.
It was an honour to get to experience her kind and gentle heart. Along with providing much helpful information about my choices, Lori also graciously provided our family with yummy home baking.
My favourite part was her gift of my birth story to treasure for years to come.
I absolutely recommend Lifted Hearts & Hands for your Doula experience!

Lori is incredible. When I first found out I was pregnant with my second child I was absolutely terrified of having to give birth again. My first experience was less than ideal and I didn't think I could do it again. I was so scared. Lori talked me through my fears and gave me the tools and confidence I needed to have the kind of birthing experience I didn't even know was possible. Having someone there who is focused solely on you while everyone else is focused on the baby is invaluable. Lori is compassionate, kind and made me feel so empowered. I swear after my son was born I could have birthed 10 more babies. I mean I won't, but I could! If you do anything for yourself while pregnant look for a doula and I highly recommend Lori.

Getting to know Lori has been the best decision I have made for my pregnancy. When we first met, we instantly clicked and I knew that I wanted her on my team.
Long story short, my pregnancy did not go as planned. I gave birth to a 26 week preemie (weighing in at 1lb. 9oz.), we spent 5 months in the NICU and Lori was always a text or call away. And while my doula relationship with Lori was not your 'typical' one, it made it all the more special because it meant having someone to vent to, cry and laugh with through all the unforeseen things that pregnancy and motherhood brings- and that to me is the perfect definition of a Doula. Someone who is ever so present when being a first time mother comes flooding in all at once.
Thank you Lori for your genuine love and passion in this field. You are truly God sent, and you are just plain amazing.

"Having a baby" or "Giving Birth" are extremely simplified statements. It's so much more than that. It's a transition. A transformation. It's all encompassing. It's not just about "labor and delivery"; it's a process that changes you. It pushes you beyond what you thought your limitations were. It can take all your meticulous preparations and intentions and throw them out the window. Having Lori by your side isn't just a "breathing coach". She's your advocate, your teammate, your anchor and lifeboat through the whole process. Lori establishes who you (and your partner) are in her initial visits and meets you exactly where you are in life whether you're a first time mom, or experienced. No judgment on any of your values. She will offer gentle suggestions from her 10+ years of experience, but ultimately she's there to support you and what's important to you. Lori sees the big picture, but thinks of the little things that make all the difference. She made sure my first meal after birth wasn't "hospital food" and brought me food that was delicious, sustaining and nutritious. Trust me. Food never tasted so good as that first meal at 1am.
She's there to support you, but if applicable, also your partner. She gives you private time to bond with your baby and celebrate with family and then upon coming home (based on your individual needs) she is there with clean hands and rolled up sleeves to help you in those first initial days and weeks. She helped me bathe my newborn for the first time, when I physically couldn't (due to an emergency c-section) and honestly was a little terrified to. She would arrive weekly and relieve me so I could walk my dogs, get some fresh air, go to the store or go for a drive. She brought me nutritious homemade meals, baked goods and gifts. She always went above and beyond. We communicated mainly via text right from the beginning which I appreciated as I was able to ask her questions randomly as I thought of them, and then also texted her in the night when my labor started, and subsequently after when I was at home for well being check ins. Her list of included services is extensive, and at the end of your time together she provides you with a "birth story" summarizing the birth of your little one as a keepsake. I deeply appreciate mine as some moments ended up being a blur. Hiring Lori as my doula was worth every dollar and I would enthusiastically recommend her to anyone.

Hiring Lori as our doula was the best decision we made! At 36 weeks, I had a sudden realization- I wasn't just carrying this baby, I was going to have to give birth! Panic set in, and that's when I found Lori. From the moment she stepped in, she gave me the confidence I needed to embrace birth. She helped me understand my options, educated me on things I didn't even know I could have a say in, and empowered me to make informed choices in the delivery room.
When the big day came, I felt calm, prepared, and confident, knowing what to expect and how to advocate for myself. Lori was an unwavering support, standing by my husband and me every step of the way, bringing a sense of peace and reassurance to both of us. But her care didn't stop there- her postpartum support was just as invaluable. She checked in regularly, even texting my husband with things to expect so he could support me better. Her homemade meals and weekly check ins were such a gift during those early weeks, and knowing I could reach out with questions at any time made all the difference. I felt so loved and supported by her in a way that went far beyond birth. Lori is truly incredible, and I can't recommend her enough!
